8. I graduated from DeLand High School in 1980.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Campbell University
with a major in History.
9. I worked in our family businesses begun by my
grandfather, Rev. R. Grady Snowden, Sr. I began in maintenance and
eventually became the administrator for two of our family's nursing
homes. As such, I managed the multi-million dollar budgets and
operation of these facilities. We have sold our nursing facilities,
however, I continue with my brother and sister to own and manage Country Side
Lakes, an assisted living facility in Port Orange. For more than ten
years I have served on the board of the Countryside Master Homeowners
Association which is the de facto government for its
nearly one thousand residents.

11. Just like you and I, our city must live within its
means. Sometimes management and budget restraints require
creative problem solving, sometimes tough decisions must be made and
carried out.
12. Honesty, integrity, transparency and knowledge of
the laws, regulations, etc. which come to bear upon the
city.
13. I do not believe that growth for the sake of growth
or simply to swell the city coffers should be the goal
of our city. The City of Lake Helen should energetically
support and serve its current citizens and businesses.
Growth must be planned and managed, but not sought as a means to an end or
a quick fix for budget problems.
14. Our city commission needs to raise its level of
professionalism and service. As a fourth generation Lake Helen
resident I will serve and represent you as an
experienced professional who cares about our city.
